[LinkedinBlogger] Lessons from Water

I promise you that Paul and I have not conspired today
to bring you lessons from Nature.  However, because I
intend to get back to the C.I.A. theme (Confluence,
Influence, and Affluence), I could hardly resist
sharing this particular web site called "Lessons From
Water" with you

http://www.lessonsfromwater.com/

I hope that at least one of you will not only enjoy
the natural networking concepts imbedded in the Flash
movie but will also use it as a respite and a moment
of stress relief, too.

May the flow be with you! :-)

[LinkedinBlogger] Laura Levitan is Winner of The MLPF N.E.T.W.O.R.K.I.N.G. Award for August 2005

Because she is a professional who is clearly
passionate about building a great Linkedin network AND
networking the right way within that network, it gives
me great pleasure to announce that Laura Levitan is
the Winner of The MLPF N.E.T.W.O.R.K.I.N.G. Award for
August 2005!

networking award to Laura Levitan for outstanding work
in networking according to the MLPF definition of
N.E.T.W.O.R.K.I.N.G.  ( http://tinyurl.com/7mwte )

one of the largest networks on Linkedin, has an
abundance of thoughtful endorsements, and at least one
professed fan on Linkedin.  – I suspect she has many
more, including me.

Laura has done a lot of her world-class networking
while moving with her family from Stamford,
Connecticut to Atlanta, Georgia, house hunting,
conducting a job search, and not missing a beat in
building her terrific Linkedin network.  Further, for
those of us who have communicated publicly and
privately with Laura, she’s done all this growth and
maintenance while demonstrating one of the best
professional personalities around.

Check out Laura ‘s profile:

[LinkedinBlogger] Two arrested in Zotob worm probe

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050826/ap_on_hi_te/computer_worm

Two Arrested in U.S. Computer Worm Probe

By MARK SHERMAN, Associated Press Writer

Authorities in Morocco and Turkey have arrested two
people believed responsible for a computer worm that
infected networks at U.S. companies and government
agencies earlier this month.

Farid Essebar, 18, was arrested in Morocco, while
Atilla Ekici, 21, was arrested in Turkey on Thursday,
Louis M. Riegel, the FBI's assistant director for
cyber crimes, said Friday. They will be prosecuted in
those countries, Riegel said.

Essebar wrote the code that attacked computers that
run Miscrosoft Corp. operating systems and Ekici paid
him for it, Riegel said. It's unclear they ever met,
"but they certainly knew each other via the Internet,"
he said.

Riegel said he does not know how much money changed
hands. Miscrosoft and FBI officials also declined to
estimate the monetary damage done by the Zotob worm
and its variations.

The pair also is believed responsible for an earlier
worm, Mytob, that first showed up in February, Riegel
said.

The Zotob worm and its variations targeted computers
that run Microsoft Corp. operating systems, with
Windows 2000 users most seriously affected.

The worm disrupted computer operations in mid-August
at several large news organizations, including The
Associated Press, ABC, CNN, and The New York Times;
such companies as heavy-equipment maker Caterpillar
Inc.; and the federal Immigration and Customs
Enforcement bureau.

Microsoft played a large role in locating the
suspects, said Riegel and Microsoft general counsel
Brad Smith.

The worm emerged just a week after the software giant
had warned of a security flaw and released a
"critical" patch for it, which is most severe on
Windows 2000 systems. Those computers can be accessed
remotely through the operating system's "Plug and
Play" hardware
detection feature.

Protective patches, plus instructions for cleansing
infected systems, are available on the company's Web
site.

Zotob and its variations can attack a computer without
needing to open any software, so some users would be
infected without knowing it.

Experts said the damage probably wouldn't be
substantial because most companies made the necessary
software fixes quickly.

Windows 2000 also is more than five years old, and
Microsoft has released several new versions of its
operating system and security overhauls since then,
further limiting the exposure.

Thanks!

[LinkedinBlogger] MLPF: Your Linkedin Business Community Now Has 2,000 Members!!

Hi, Everyone,
I'm happy to announce that My Linkedin Power Forum
became a business community of 2,000 members today,
August 25, 2005.

That means that you now have access to a couple
thousand people who might just be able to help you to
use Linkedin to grow your business better, solve a
business problem quicker, find the right
consultant/expert faster.

Over the past 6 1/2 months, we've worked to the best
of our ability to bring our 2,000 members together to
help answer each other's questions and to share in
each other's successes.

In addition to having 2,000 members to discuss
Linkedin, networking, business, and communication
issues, those of you who are members of the MLPF group
on Linkedin Groups also have 643 members through whom
you can get additional business help directly on
Linkedin.com.

I sincerely and deeply appreciate that you've chosen
to be active members of MLPF.  I hope that you'll
continue to receive value from the communications
taking place here.

Finally, I wish to thank the MLPF Co-moderators,
Arnnei Speiser and Paul Dube, for their exemplary
support in helping to shape, nurture, and strengthen
MLPF as a business tool for you.

[LinkedinBlogger] Cause Marketing & MLPF's First "Cause of the Day"

Because I'm against spam but FOR good causes, I've
decided to use a little of MLPF's real estate for the
MLPF Cause of the Day.

And because this decision was prompted by someone who
felt compelled to send a message about breast cancer
to the group and because I've lost too many relatives
and friends to cancer, I've decided to network with
him to help bring attention to the breast cancer
initiative.

Thus, the FIRST MLPF Cause of the Day is the one
prompted by his aborted post to MLPF: Breast Cancer
awareness. ( http://www.thebreastcancersite.com/home )

Of course, this reminds me that there are innumerable
other good causes for us to pitch in a little of
ourselves to address.   Thus, if you have a cause
you'd like for us to consider as an MLPF Cause of the
Day, please send a message to me describing your cause
and a link to its web site at Linkedin @

[LinkedinBlogger] MLPF Recommended Core Rules of Netiquette: Excellent Netiquette Resource

Because I believe that the absence of netiquette
interferes with our ability to vigorously discuss
business networking, I'm happy to recommend to My
Linkedin Power Forum members the following set of
netiquette principles famously championed by Virginia
Shea.   If you have time, you can read them in detail
at: http://www.albion.com/netiquette/corerules.html

THE CORE RULES OF NETIQUETTE

Excerpted from the book "Netiquette" by Virginia Shea.

* Rule 1: Remember the Human

* Rule 2: Adhere to the same standards of behavior
online that you follow in real life

* Rule 3: Know where you are in cyberspace

* Rule 4: Respect other people's time and bandwidth

* Rule 5: Make yourself look good online

* Rule 6: Share expert knowledge

* Rule 7: Help keep flame wars under control

* Rule 8: Respect other people's privacy

* Rule 9: Don't abuse your power

* Rule 10: Be forgiving of other people's mistakes

Whether or not you visit the site to read them in
detail and whether or not some of them need to be more
freshly stated/restated, I think that at the core,
these are powerful behavioral concepts for MLPF
members to consider using here.

And because I think our adherence to them could help
us to lay solid ground work so that our behavior
doesn't interfere with our discussing ways to improve
our earnings ability through networking via Linkedin,
I encourage discussion about them here on MLPF.

Thanks!

PS: For those of you in a really big hurry, here's
what Virginia Shea says about "Rule 1: Remember the
human":

"The golden rule your parents and your kindergarten
teacher taught you was pretty simple: Do unto others
as you'd have others do unto you. Imagine how you'd
feel if you were in the other person's shoes. Stand up
for yourself, but try not to hurt people's feelings.

In cyberspace, we state this in an even more basic
manner: Remember the human.

When you communicate electronically, all you see is a
computer screen. You don't have the opportunity to use
facial expressions, gestures, and tone of voice to
communicate your meaning; words -- lonely written
words -- are all you've got. And that goes for your
correspondent as well.

When you're holding a conversation online -- whether
it's an email exchange or a response to a discussion
group posting -- it's easy to misinterpret your
correspondent's meaning. And it's frighteningly easy
to forget that your correspondent is a person with
feelings more or less like your own.

It's ironic, really. Computer networks bring people
together who'd otherwise never meet. But the
impersonality of the medium changes that meeting to
something less -- well, less personal. Humans
exchanging email often behave the way some people
behind the wheel of a car do: They curse at other
drivers, make obscene gestures, and generally behave
like savages. Most of them would never act that way at
work or at home. But the interposition of the machine
seems to make it acceptable.

The message of Netiquette is that it's not acceptable.
Yes, use your network connections to express yourself
freely, explore strange new worlds, and boldly go
where you've never gone before. But remember the Prime
Directive of Netiquette: Those are real people out
there.

Would you say it to the person's face?

Writer and Macintosh evangelist Guy Kawasaki tells a
story about getting email from some fellow he's never
met. Online, this fellow tells Guy that he's a bad
writer with nothing interesting to say.

Unbelievably rude? Yes, but unfortunately, it happens
all the time in cyberspace.

Maybe it's the awesome power of being able to send
mail directly to a well-known writer like Guy. Maybe
it's the fact that you can't see his face crumple in
misery as he reads your cruel words. Whatever the
reason, it's incredibly common.

Guy proposes a useful test for anything you're about
to post or mail: Ask yourself, "Would I say this to
the person's face?" If the answer is no, rewrite and
reread. Repeat the process till you feel sure that
you'd feel as comfortable saying these words to the
live person as you do sending them through cyberspace.

Of course, it's possible that you'd feel great about
saying something extremely rude to the person's face.
In that case, Netiquette can't help you. Go get a copy
of Miss Manners' Guide to Excruciatingly Correct
Behavior.

Another reason not to be offensive online

When you communicate through cyberspace -- via email
or on discussion groups -- your words are written. And
chances are they're stored somewhere where you have no
control over them. In other words, there's a good
chance they can come back to haunt you.

Never forget the story of famous email user Oliver
North. Ollie, you'll remember, was a great devotee of
the White House email system, PROFS. He diligently
deleted all incriminating notes he sent or received.
What he didn't realize was that, somewhere else in the
White House, computer room staff were equally
diligently backing up the mainframe where his messages
were stored. When he went on trial, all those handy
backup tapes were readily available as evidence
against him.

You don't have to be engaged in criminal activity to
want to be careful. Any message you send could be
saved or forwarded by its recipient. You have no
control over where it goes."

Thanks!

[LinkedinBlogger] "Making meaning" and Re-dedicating MLPF to Linkedin Best Practices

As much as I've wanted to have a hands off policy in
the messages posted on My Linkedin Power Forum, a few
recent posts have caused me a bit of concern about the
potential of our missing out on the opportunity
Linkedin affords those of us who want to use it as
designed, as formulated by its creators.

MLPF is here for Linkedin best practices and for
constructive criticism.  MLPF is not for messages
encouraging people to cheat LinkedIn any more than we
would encourage each other to cheat anyone else we're
in a business relationship with.  MLPF is not here to
encourage any member to obstruct any other Linkedin
member interested in developing their businesses via
Linkedin.

Linkedin is not perfect and is not going to be
perfect.

The same with MLPF.

The same with your business, your products, your
services.

We are simply never going to reach perfection where
there is nothing for anyone to complain about.

Moreover, whereas unfair complaints reflect more on
the complainer than on the product, a good complaint,
good constructive criticism, can lead to a
continuously superior product.

And that's one of the reasons I set up
LinkedinTomorrow so that those who wanted to discuss
Linkedin product development could have a good place
to work out ideas about tomorrow's version of
Linkedin, today:
http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/LinkedinTomorrow/

I encourage those of you who are committed to
participating in the development of Linkedin to
consider signing up for that forum and taking a
leadership role in helping to advance Linkedin's
platform.  (I accidentally wrote platforum! :-))

There is still an inordinate amount of good that we
can get out of Linkedin IF we focus on the good that's
on Linkedin today and contribute in helping each other
to get maximum value out of our current memberships.

I'm not a Pollyanna.  But I insist that we don't have
to cheat, we don't have to be mean-spirited, nor do we
have to malign the good work of others in order to
improve our own businesses - AT ALL!

And on a peripheral matter:To me, cheating is just
passing around a mental disease based upon laziness,
self-centeredness, a poor imagination, and the
impatience to do things the right way.

And though I've had my temptations to do so, I don't
like my work when I find that I had to cheat to get
something I want.  YUCK! (This is not saying anything
against "cheatsheets" which are doing nothing more
than codifying shortcuts to help increase our
productivity.)

The above being said: I want to leave you with a word
of encouragement I heard today from Guy Kawasaki of
Garage Technology Ventures as presented through the
Standford Technology Venture Program.

He says that the core of why you should start a
company is to make meaning.  He emphatically
distinguishes between the success of businesses
started for making meaning and those started
exclusively for making money.

Kawasaki goes on to say that there are 3 ways for
entrepreneurs to make meaning in business:

1. Increase quality of life

2. Right a wrong

3. Prevent the end of something good

While there have been men and women who've attempted
to stop MLPF from helping you to use Linkedin the
right way - and there are likely to be others from
time to time in our future - I intend to continue
developing MLPF around the above 3 ways that Kawasaki
so definitively espouses.  So, I dedicate MLPF to 1.)
helping you to increase the quality of your business
life via Linkedin, 2.)where possible, righting the
wrong practices that are straining to seep into the
linking practices Linkedin recommends, 3.) working to
prevent the end of Linkedin as our favorite way of
linking with one another for our businesses and for
our careers.

With that in mind, I strongly encourage you listen to
Guy Kawaski's super-brief presentation that's pregnant
with meaning for Linkedin and for your business and
mine.

Here's the link, but you might have to join the
Stanford Technology Ventures Program in order to
listen to the video:

http://vodwins.stanford.edu/stvp/kawa/13kawa.asx

PLEASE join me in continuing to develop positive
practices and positive means of developing our
networks so that our networks will have more meaning
for us and for those we support.

Thank you.

[LinkedinBlogger] THANK YOU for 6 Months of Great Networking Conversation on MLPF!

My Linkedin Power Forum is 6 months old today.  Thus,
I wish to take this opportunity to thank the very
special men and women who've contributed their
intelligence, business acumen, life experience, good
humor, and inspirational fire in helping us to witness
good networking in action during the first 6 months of
MLPF.

I salute each and everyone of the 1,800+ members from
around the world who've come here to learn about
Linkedin, business networking, and communication
skills on this very active forum.

I am deeply grateful to you for the things you've
helped me to learn about networking and about business
and about communication and about life during this 6
month period.

Many members have shared success stories with me.
Happily, some of them have brought to my attention
that they have benefited financially from some of the
connections they've made through MLPF and Linkedin.

It is my intention to help that number grow as much as
possible in the next 6 months of MLPF's life.

So, I hope you'll continue to work with us and teach
and learn with us in a forum whose potential I think
we've barely tapped into.

I sincerely thank you for your participation in this
living forum and invite you to join us as we dig more
deeply into how we might be able to learn and grow and
profit and prosper from working long enough on
Linkedin with the right network of supporters to help
us develop our careers and businesses.

As always, if I can be of help to you and your
networking missions, please contact me at your
convenience.

Thank you.

[LinkedinBlogger] Preventing Flame Wars: Two Basic Principles of Netiquette - From The Virtual Handshake

Because I intend to continually work on improving the
atmosphere of My Linkedin Power Forum for those who
genuinely want to learn about Linkedin, networking,
and communication skills, I want to share with you a
couple of great netiquette principles brought to the
attention of LinkedinBloggers by Des Walsh.

I believe it's more than irony that Des Walsh of
LinkedinBloggers brought this to our attention on the
very day that I'm re-reading page 111 of David Teten
and Scott Allen's "The Virtual Handshake" where those
2 principles are joined by 4 other well-thought-out
principles that could help members and moderators
greatly reduce flame wars.

Though by most accounts MLPF is a fairly successful
forum, I can safely say that it would have been even
more successful and enjoyable had I read and applied
the principles in "The Virtual Handshake" when I
started MLPF 6 months ago.

Kudos to Scott Allen and David Teten for organizing
and sharing such great networking concepts with us.  I
highly, highly, highly recommend "The Virtual
Handshake" for community members and moderators alike.

Please do check out Scott's excellent post "Flame
Wars: Two Basic Principles of Netiquette" at:
http://www.thevirtualhandshake.com/blog/2005/08/02/preventing-flame-wars-two-basic-principles-of-netiquette

or

http://tinyurl.com/cybag

For your convenience and consideration, I'm including
two of the 6 principles below and hope that we can
strongly apply them on MLPF and its partner forums.

Thanks!

Preventing Flame Wars: Two Basic Principles of
Netiquette - From The Virtual Handshake

1. Presume good intent. What is the best possible way
the other person could mean by what they said? If your
initial reaction to what somebody says is negative,
pause. Take a deep breath. Try to detach from your own
personal context and put yourself in their context.
What might they have meant by that? Maybe you’re
misinterpreting what they’re saying.

So pick the best possible meaning, and respond to
that. What’s the worst that can happen? They correct
you and say, “No, I really meant…”? On the other hand,
if you respond to your negative reaction, the worst
possible thing is that an escalation begins — a
vicious circle. Sound familiar?

You’re never backed into a corner online. Take the
time to cool off and re-think it before you reply.

2. Don’t say anything online that you wouldn’t say in
person. Would you say it to their face at a networking
event? If not, then why would you say it here? Don’t
think that the relationships here are any less
important, the feelings any less real, etc. And don’t
think it won’t have any impact on your business.

No one looks good when they get emotional in an
argument, even when they’re right. Does it reflect
better on you to be right? Or to be someone who’s easy
to get along with?

I’m not saying people shouldn’t voice their opinions,
or debate their differences of opinion, but not at the
expense of their relationships and even their
reputation.

Think about it… would you want to do business with
someone who was always right but always arguing about
it to show how right they are? (unless they’re a trial
lawyer, of course, in which case that’s a very
desirable trait)

Thanks!

than 3.3 million registered professionals. And we’ve
improved People search, too — you’ll see not only
matching professionals in your network, but also the
top results from the entire LinkedIn Network.
Introductions: Greater Trust and Speed

Overwhelmingly, users have told us that four-degree
referrals take too long and require too many people to
get the real benefit of a referred introduction. We
agree. Introductions, our new name for Contact
Requests, will now extend only three degrees. Everyone
in an Introduction chain will know either the original
sender or the final recipient, establishing a truly
trusted link.

Introducing InMail™: Opportunities Through the
LinkedIn Network

InMail, a new service available exclusively through
LinkedIn, allows you to receive business opportunities
from other LinkedIn users directly onto your homepage
without sacrificing privacy. You decide whether to
receive InMail; you get to rate every InMail you
receive to help ensure quality; and you choose when to
share your contact information.

Business Accounts: Advanced Tools for Business Users

Beginning today, you can upgrade to a Business
account, a premium service for LinkedIn users.
Business account holders will be able to request more
Introductions, send InMails, see more complete search
results, and receive premium customer service. Learn
more and upgrade now.

As always, our goal is to help you get connected to
the right professionals and the right new business
opportunities. Send your comments to me at
ceofeedback@linkedin.com.

I wish you every success,

Reid Hoffman
CEO, LinkedIn

[LinkedinBlogger] How will you use your 5 Linkedin requests this week?

With your Linkedin Beta Subscription, you can have up
to 5 requests en route, concurrently.

Assuming that you have all yours, how will you use
your 5 requests this week?

What would your ideal outcome be from those 5 requests
for the end this coming week?

By way of illustration: I'm planning to use my 5
requests to help one good client and one good friend -
both of whom are seeking senior level IT positions in
the New York Metropolitan area. (Senior Project
Manager and CIO/CTO/VP/Director, respectively.)

The ideal I'm seeking by end of day this coming Friday
is to have each of these gentlemen have at least a
phone screen scheduled for an appropriate fit.  If I
can pull that off by end of day Friday, then I'm
sleeping in all day Saturday! :-) (Well, at least I'll
sleep in late! :-)))

Assuming that you're on Linkedin with a specific
business purpose in mind, what will you do with your 5
requests to feel that you can "exhale" and enjoy the
weekend?

What outcome will help you to feel that you've had a
good Linkedin week?

[LinkedinBlogger] "You Can't Teach A Kid To Ride A Bike At A Seminar" + ALFA + MLPF

Imagine my reaction upon being introduced to David
Sandler's sales training book "You Can't Teach A Kid
To Ride A Bike At A Seminar" just as I was in the
midst of trying to build a seminar marketing practice!

I wasn't sure I wanted to read it because it takes so
much steam to get a good seminar practice going.

But because the book was so strongly recommended and
because it was another wonderful bok gift, I
reluctantly read it.  Again, another book I'm glad I
took a day to read.

Though I haven't read the book all the way through
again since reading it a couple of years ago, I think
it's worth mentioning it at a time of such vibrant
growth in the seminar industry and in Linkedin as
well.  It may also help you to understand a bit better
how I see the value of MLPF within a kind of chaordic
milieu.

A.L.F.A.

1. Awareness - Before considering attending a seminar
on a subject such as Linkedin, we must first become
aware of the subject's existence.  Linkedin has done a
wonderful job in making more than 3 Million people
aware of its existence - (Of course, the awareness
number is a lot higher when you consider those who are
aware of Linkedin but haven't yet joined).  But just
being aware of Linkedin is not enough.  We must learn
to use it.

2. Learning to use Linkdedin - There are a variety of
means by which we can learn things such as Linkedin:
tutorials, guides, seminars, classes, and forums such
as MLPF, etc.  Most of us would probably agree that
multi-sensory learning situations such as seminars are
better for quick learning than the other learning
venues listed above.  Yet, even learning via
multi-sensory seminars - by itself - is not enough.
We need something else before we can profit.

3. Fluency - We need to practice.  If we are to derive
maximum benefit from what we learn, we need to
practice to the point of fluency, mastery, etc.  MLPF
has proven to me, and hopefully to many others,  to be
an excellent place to practice human interaction,
communication skills, problem solving, etc.  I wish to
advocate that once you learn something at a seminar,
you need a place like MLPF to develop what you've
learned into a skill with which you can become fluent.
BUT - EVEN FLUENCY IS NOT ENOUGH! - Since this
section is the MLPF section, I'm saying that even MLPF
is not enough.  You need something else before you can
profit.

4. Application - You need to apply your skills, you
need to apply your abilities, if you wish to profit.
Let's say that you are really, really, really good at
expressing yourself - but you never apply it.  Someone
with skills inferior to yours can actually benefit
more than you do - though you have a greater skill
set.  So, once you learn Linkedin techniques and
become fluent in your knowledge of them, please put
them into practice by going to Linkedin.com and
applying them.   Get in contact with the people there
that you and your business and career need in order to
maximize yourself.

The above is not intended as a science - rather just a
few Friday evening thoughts I thought to organize
under an acronym to encourage you to take advantage of
the unbelievable value/power just sitting there at
Linkedin.com

Thanks!

[LinkedinBlogger] A Happy Day for MLPF = 1,700 + 400 - 2 Headaches

Based upon the following formula, I'm happy to say
that July 28th, 2005 turned out to be a happy day for
MLPF even after a little unwanted wrestling:

(1,700 members in our Linkedin Yahoo Group today)plus
+

(400 members in the MLPF Linkedin Group today)minus -

(1 headache group that remained on my Linkedin
homepage like the proverbial dead goldfish for more
than THREE MONTHS + 1 headache of a group moderator
who never answered even one of my dozens upon dozens
of messages (one of his staff members did about 2
months ago - then back into oblivion))

So, MLPF on Yahoo Groups reached a nice milestone of
1,700 members, MLPF on Linkedin Groups reached a nice
milestone of 400 members, and I reduced my
"connections" headaches by two!

Thus, in retrospect, 7.28.2005 wasn't such a bad day
for MLPF after all! :-)

Thanks to each and everyone of you who've helped us to
reach many milestones within our first 6 months.

[LinkedinBlogger] The C.Y.R.I.L. Question on Loyalty

When Cyril Persaud, one of my top 3 friends over the
past 27 years, came to me with a concern about losing
his sales staff in spite of his best efforts to take
good care of them, of course I wanted to give him the
best feedback available to me.

So, after listening to him tell me that he knew that
he was paying his staff better and training them
better than the local competition, he then asked me
for my advice on how he might be able to solve his
staff turnover problem – without going broke.

After commiserating with him and acknowledging that he
indeed had a pretty challenging problem, I asked him
what he thought it was that helped people to stay in
one place while others left for no apparent good
reason.   Because I was trying to get clear with him
on what the “glue” was that held relationships
together, I asked him to think about this question:
Can You Really Inspire Loyalty?

People don’t stay in positions merely because of money
or training.  I believe people stay because they have
been helped to feel like they are a vital part of an
organization that values them and their contributions,
part of an organization that benefits them in
non-tangible ways – ways that can be the too often
overlooked deal maker/breaker.

Think about it: You can't very well lead those without
loyalty.

For when the loyalty is gone, so is the person.

Therefore, I think it is the beginning and the end of
management leadership and employee retention.

What do you think?

Can You Really Inspire Loyalty?

[LinkedinBlogger] How to Add MLPF Logo to Your Linkedin Profile

Several MLPF members have written to me privately
about how to add the group logo to their Linkedin
profiles.

It's really as easy as easy can be.

To add the group logo to your Linkedn profile:

1. Visit this link and follow the easy instructions:

https://www.linkedin.com/e/gis/1304/10BE4F71AFD0/

2. In this brief process we save MLPF members a step -
There is no need to contact the MLPF administrators
after you've completed the brief registration process.
MLPF administrators are responsive by nature and will
respond to your request to join the group within 1-24
hours.

Thanks!

[LinkedinBlogger] K.O.N.S.T.A.N.T.I.N. - Networker Motivation

Some days, the practice of givers gain can feel like,
"givers drain", a virtual nightmare in our hands.

There seems to be a certain segment of humans who
insist on trying to pull you off your mission of
giving powerfully, freely, abundantly.

So, I think it's VITALLY, VITALLY, VITALLY important
to have something to counter the negative drag, to
give you power to resist AND to ACCOMPLISH NEW things
in networking.

So, in case you need a bit of motivational energy
today, I offer you the following
"K.O.N.S.T.A.N.T.I.N." acronym

1. Keep On - This is a proper usage of the living
power you have in you.  To go forward - even when
slowed by a seeming unending slew of obstacles.  This
is the most important thing I can think of to
encourage you to have: a mentality of "keeping on" -
it will help your friends to love you even as it
provides employment for your enemies - enemies need
employment, too! :-)

2. Networking Strategically - Networking is something
that some of us do just as effortlessly as breathing.
Others of us have to work, work, work to labor to
network ourselves from where we are to where we want
to go.  Creating a networking strategy can help you be
more fluent in your networking because a strategy
necessitates a goal.  What good is a goal-less
strategy, a strategy that's aiming at nothing.
Indeed, for those of us who have trouble visualizing
appropriate goals, objectives, etc., sometimes
creating a good, powerful strategy will help clarify
goals that might prove valuable to us.  In other
words, your goals may be defined by the available
strategies, methods, tools, within your reach.  Bottom
line: networking strategically should be paramount in
your mind, your heart, your soul.  Because it is
networking on purpose towards a goal.

3. To Accomplish NEW Things - This is about results.
But more importantly, it's about being bold enough to
chase the new things in the world - or attempt to pull
them into existence from nothing - exactly what we
were designed to do - to extend our reach - to reach,
reach, reach for more things, greater things, better
things, NEW things.  Why should I want to accomplish
the same old tired things that make experts expert?  I
want to go where no expert has been before, creating
places, things, concepts, hybrids of things for
budding experts to yearn for with their deepest
passion.   Experts need encouraging, too! :-)  And
they need dreamers' dreams to give them bigger
playgrounds to use all their expert ability!

4. In Networking - Networking is the best playground
in the world!  It's where I intend to spend the
remainder of my time on Earth.

So, my word of motivation to you My Linkedin Power
Forum friends is to:

Keep On Networking Strategically To Accomplish New
Things In Networking! :-)

Thanks!

[LinkedinBlogger] Linkedin Groups: The Entrepreneur's Delight!

I've seen several questions on My Linkedin Power Forum
which suggest that some MLPF members may be missing
out on the awesome entrepreneurial value sitting there
like acres of diamond for them in Linkedin Groups.
(Especially, in the MLPF Linkedin Group! :-))

Here are a few of my thoughts on the value I see in My
Linkedin Power Forum Group on Linkedin and the other
24 Linkedin Groups I personally belong to:

1. Each group I belong to is a starting point for
reaching out to other members

2. Each group sets a theme of discussion, a reference
point, a framework with which to shape dialogue - and
it's the DIALOGUE that MATTERS MOST between you and
someone you want to contact, connect with, link to, or
forward to, or forward for, etc.

3. If I belong to several groups - and I do - 25 in
total - and someone I want to contact belongs to one
or more of those groups, then I have between 1 and 25
difference starting points and frames of reference
from which to begin my dialogue.  MAN, I like to
dialogue! :-)

(From a starting points or frameworks perspective,
this is how Google calculator translates the factorial
power of the Linkedin groups I belong to: 1.551121 ×
10 to the 25th power! - Off the top of my head, I
don't what the name of that number is - I think it's
somewhere between a Septillion and an Octillion but,
whatever it is, I do recognize creative power
potential when I see it! :-))

4. Each group signals where I should begin my search
process to find the type of professional I need.  If
I'm looking to build/recruit a team, my 25 groups are
my 25 starting points for my search.

5. Verification - If I need to verify certain types of
information about companies, individuals, products or
services, what better starting points than to turn to
1 of the 25 Linkedin Groups I'm a member of?

6. I can also use my 25 groups to help me with these
things I'm "Interested In:

* considering full- or part-time job opportunities
* consulting and contracting opportunities
* information about new ventures or products
* job inquiries from qualified candidates interested
in working with me or my company
* requests for information or expertise
* deal proposals for my company or organization
* requests to provide references for current and
former co-workers
* messages requesting reconnection from friends and
colleagues

7. Finally, I can use it to prioritize my requests
processing.

So, to get the business I need, all I think I need to
add to the mix is IMAGINATION! :-)

Here's hoping you'll find a little entrepreneurial
delight in the MLPF Linkedin Group as well as any
others you may belong to.

C.Y.B.E.R. F.L.O.W.
Can You Blog Enough Reasons For Linking Our Work??

I've created a few Linkedin-oriented properties which
I'd like to ask you to blog about.

If you let me know what you've blogged and if you are
opened to it, I'd like to use your blog statement as
the homepage description for the particular Linkedin
group/subject you choose to blog about from the list
below.  This list covers most of the Linkedin fora
I've created ~130+ groups/newsletters.

In addition to using your description for the
particular discussion group's homepage, I'll* include
a link to your blog in the homepagess description
section.  It could help your blog
attendance/links/connections, etc.  Um, it could help
your blog's popularity - that's what I was trying to
say! See why I need your help?:-)

Additionally, I'm looking for Lead Moderators to help
moderate some of the groups below as well.  If you
serve as the Subject Matter Expert, I'll be a VERY
SILENT backup for your group should you need my help.

If interested to blog about a particular subject or to
Lead Moderate a particular group, please write to me
at Linkedin at MyLinkedinPowerForum.com

Thanks for helping me answer the CYBER FLOW question:
