[LinkedinBlogger] "You Can't Teach A Kid To Ride A Bike At A Seminar" + ALFA + MLPF

Imagine my reaction upon being introduced to David
Sandler's sales training book "You Can't Teach A Kid
To Ride A Bike At A Seminar" just as I was in the
midst of trying to build a seminar marketing practice!

I wasn't sure I wanted to read it because it takes so
much steam to get a good seminar practice going.

But because the book was so strongly recommended and
because it was another wonderful bok gift, I
reluctantly read it.  Again, another book I'm glad I
took a day to read.

Though I haven't read the book all the way through
again since reading it a couple of years ago, I think
it's worth mentioning it at a time of such vibrant
growth in the seminar industry and in Linkedin as
well.  It may also help you to understand a bit better
how I see the value of MLPF within a kind of chaordic
milieu.

A.L.F.A.

1. Awareness - Before considering attending a seminar
on a subject such as Linkedin, we must first become
aware of the subject's existence.  Linkedin has done a
wonderful job in making more than 3 Million people
aware of its existence - (Of course, the awareness
number is a lot higher when you consider those who are
aware of Linkedin but haven't yet joined).  But just
being aware of Linkedin is not enough.  We must learn
to use it.

2. Learning to use Linkdedin - There are a variety of
means by which we can learn things such as Linkedin:
tutorials, guides, seminars, classes, and forums such
as MLPF, etc.  Most of us would probably agree that
multi-sensory learning situations such as seminars are
better for quick learning than the other learning
venues listed above.  Yet, even learning via
multi-sensory seminars - by itself - is not enough.
We need something else before we can profit.

3. Fluency - We need to practice.  If we are to derive
maximum benefit from what we learn, we need to
practice to the point of fluency, mastery, etc.  MLPF
has proven to me, and hopefully to many others,  to be
an excellent place to practice human interaction,
communication skills, problem solving, etc.  I wish to
advocate that once you learn something at a seminar,
you need a place like MLPF to develop what you've
learned into a skill with which you can become fluent.
BUT - EVEN FLUENCY IS NOT ENOUGH! - Since this
section is the MLPF section, I'm saying that even MLPF
is not enough.  You need something else before you can
profit.

4. Application - You need to apply your skills, you
need to apply your abilities, if you wish to profit.
Let's say that you are really, really, really good at
expressing yourself - but you never apply it.  Someone
with skills inferior to yours can actually benefit
more than you do - though you have a greater skill
set.  So, once you learn Linkedin techniques and
become fluent in your knowledge of them, please put
them into practice by going to Linkedin.com and
applying them.   Get in contact with the people there
that you and your business and career need in order to
maximize yourself.

The above is not intended as a science - rather just a
few Friday evening thoughts I thought to organize
under an acronym to encourage you to take advantage of
the unbelievable value/power just sitting there at
Linkedin.com

Thanks!
